Nan Phifer, an associate director of the Oregon Writing Project at the University of Oregon, Eugene, and author of Memoirs of the Soul, will lead a writing retreat at the Shalom Prayer Center, northeast of Salem, on Jan. 23-24. Participants will use writing to explore some of their most meaningful experiences and apply a medieval, monastic, practice, Lectio Divina, to their own texts.
